Femap v10.3ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 10.3 of Femap® software has been released.

Femap 10.3 ships with NX Nastran 8.0 and brings numerous enhancements. Performance has also improved for forced dynamic response analyses, and for many preprocessing functions. In addition, many other customerdriven enhancements are included in this latest version of Femap.

Benefits

  • Significant time savings with finite element model creation
  • FE models from complex 3D geometry are much easier to create and mesh first time
  • Improved FE model accuracy with the removal of geometry imperfections that compromise element quality
  • Easier, faster and more accurate aerodynamic statics and flutter analysis preprocessing and model creation and setup
  • Easier and faster generation and regeneration of free body diagrams
  • Greater flexibility and control of free body display

New Features in v10.3

  • Automatic solid geometry preparation prior to finite element meshing
  • User interface support for NX Nastran aeroelastic statics and flutter analyses
  • A new free body tool extension to the postpro cessing toolbox that allows easy creation of free body diagrams and investigation of interface loads

Femap

FemapThe accuracy of finite element analysis depends greatly on the validity of the analysis model. Creating this model requires software called a preprocessor. The preprocessor we sell, support and use ourselves is Femap (which stands for Finite Element Modeling and Processing) from UGS.

Engineers worldwide use Femap for modeling everything from simple solid components to entire spacecraft assemblies. This versatile preprocessor is also used throughout a broad range of engineering disciplines. From simple linear static analysis right through to advanced solutions based on LS-DYNA® from www.LSTC.com. Femap is the software of choice for creating accurate finite element models.

Open, compatible and Windows-based
Femap is built on an advanced set of open technologies that allow it to work with almost all digital product definition data. Based on the Parasolid geometry kernel, Femap has direct access to some 35% of the world’s digital product data. In addition, a number of state-of-the-art geometric extensions ensure that Femap is able to work with data from virtually any source, directly and seamlessly (e.g., CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/E, etc.). Femap also works with an unusually broad range of finite element solver solutions.

Femap is Windows-based, which eases the learning curve considerably. Not only does the Windows interface provide a high degree of familiarity for the majority of users, it also ensures that Femap includes time-saving features such as cut and paste, undo and standard Windows navigation conventions.

There are numerous other advantages to Femap as well. We think of it as "an engineer's pre- and post- processor."

Powerful processor/solver combination
Combining Femap with NX Nastran gives you two of the world’s most popular and powerful structural analysis programs as well as a very cost-effective, Windows-native CAE solution. Femap’s widely used pre- and post-processing capabilities work flawlessly with the well known and respected analysis solver capabilities of NX Nastran.

Femap seamlessly integrates NX Nastran into the Femap environment and directly supports a broad range of NX Nastran capabilities, such as linear and non-linear static, normal modes, Eigenvalue, transient/dynamic, frequency/harmonic response, response spectrum, random response and buckling. (There are also additional NX Nastran options available for aero- elasticity, super-elements, optimization and DMAP.)

Femap with NX Nastran provides a comprehensive range of detailed functionality for directly defining and controlling most aspects of modeling, simulation and subsequent post processing operations. Your company can use this powerful combination to virtually simulate a complete range of product behavior before committing to product development plans, ultimately reducing prototypes and physical testing. This combination solution ensures higher product quality, lower development costs, decreased testing overheads and reduced product development time.

As a market-leading component of UGS and Velocity Series™, Femap also provides an independent backbone to a number of other well known and industry respected simulation products including LS-DYNA from LSTC, Sinda/G from Network Analysis Inc.; NEiNastran Modeler from Noran Engineering Inc.; and MSC.Nastran for Windows from MSC.Software.
