We’re excited to welcome Scott Wertel, P.E., to the team as our Director of Engineering and Transformation!
With 20+ years of experience, Scott joins us from MHP Americas, a Porsche company, where he worked as Senior Manager – Digital Engineering, helping discrete manufacturers improve their engineering and product development processes, including the IT and tools needed to execute them. He’s also a principal and co-founder of Aerospace Research and Development Group, LLC, a registered professional engineer in four states, and holds an MBA along with multiple certifications in configuration and change management. Outside of work, he enjoys flying, drumming, and road cycling.
What made you choose Applied CAx for this next step?
Across my career, I’ve worked with discrete manufacturers to get the most value from their data, from initial requirements to end-item deliverables, while protecting their intellectual property along the way. Applied CAx gave me the chance to keep doing that work as Director of Engineering and Transformation.
What has your work as principal and co-founder of Aerospace Research and Development Group taught you that you’ll bring into this role?
Running my own company means I’ve been responsible for operations, engineering, marketing, branding, business development, and project management, not just the technical side of work. That range gives me a fuller picture of how engineering divisions connect to the rest of a business, which is something I plan to bring into how I lead here.
How do you see engineering at Applied CAx evolving to serve clients going forward?
I hold certifications in configuration and change management, and I’ve seen firsthand how much that discipline matters when clients are trying to protect their intellectual property and get value from their data end to end. I also care about the engineering profession beyond any one company. I’ve written for technical trade journals, contributed an op-ed for professional societies, and advised academia on curricula that meet business needs, and I want that same commitment to the profession to show up in how our engineering team operates here.
