Meet Jeremy Shooks, a new member of our NX Support Team. A Design and Manufacturing Application Engineer, Jeremy has extensive expertise, with over 20 years of experience in automotive design, structural analysis, product improvement, and cost reduction. His experience with automation and NX Open will significantly benefit our customers.

Q. What inspired you to join the Applied team?
A. I wanted to work in a fast-paced environment where I could use my creativity to improve systems.
Q. What are your areas of expertise?
A. I have experience in NX, Teamcenter, VB, Python, and Catia.
Q. What do you do for Applied?
A. I will be supporting NX as a Design and Manufacturing Application Engineer.
Q. Tell us about yourself – what’s your background and education?
A. I have over 20 years of automotive design experience, and my career has progressed from being a designer to managing a team, training staff, and setting up standards that improve efficiency. My degree is in computer-aided engineering.
Q. How did you get started in your field? What excited you about it?
A. In high school, I took AutoCAD 10, and that was the beginning of my passion for working in design. I always liked cars and fixing them, but design presented an opportunity to solve issues before they became problems, which led me to product design.
Q. Where are you located?
A. I live in Presque Isle, Michigan, on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron in Northeast Michigan, four hours north of Detroit.
Q. Where would we find you when you’re not at work?
A. You would find me camping, hiking, or biking when not at work.
Q. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A. I would eat pizza because you can make it so many different ways.
Q. Tell us three fun facts about yourself.
- I once made dinner for Trisha Yearwood and Tim McGraw while working at Ruby Tuesdays as a cook in Nashville, TN.
- I enjoy rustic (wool blanket and a tarp) winter camping.
- I did the Wim Hof training last year and do regular ice baths.
