Data Mapping in Simcenter STAR-CCM+

March 19, 2021

The Data Mapping functions within Simcenter STAR-CCM+ have a wide range of capabilities for interfacing with exterior programs or improving your own workflow in STAR-CCM+. The most traditional use of Data Mapping is mapping pressures for Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) and co-simulation.

Data Mapping can also be used for comparing results within an analysis run and setting initial conditions from previous solutions. This tutorial demonstrates how to utilize these functions within Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to evaluate differences between solutions and ensure that the correct data is reflected in the simulation.

In this brief video tutorial, Clay Hearn, Ph.D. and Staff Mechanical Engineer at Applied CAx,  demonstrates the ways in which Data Mapping can be used in conjunction with structural analysis, as well as to compare the results within the same model.
