We’re excited to welcome Jason Adams to the team as a Senior Teamcenter Solution Architect! With 20 years of experience in PLM, Jason’s experience includes installations and upgrades, security implementation, and CAD integration/configuration to include SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and NX.
Q: What made you want to join the Applied team?
A: For me, it was a few things.
- The name, Applied CAx, is very well known in our industry, and I wanted to be a part of the success it takes to get to that level.
- There are a lot of great minds at Applied CAx that are working on some complex projects, and I love that.
- I like the fact that the team is relatively small (at least it feels that way), but growing. It is exciting that we get to grow together.
Q: What are your areas of expertise?
A: Teamcenter installations, Teamcenter upgrades, Teamcenter SSO/SSL, Shop Floor Connect, Active Workspace configuration, BMIDE configurations, and Deployment Center.
Q: What’s your background or education?
A: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and IT Management from State University of New York – Delhi, and an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology from Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Q: How did you get started in your field?
A: Long story. Sorry…I was working as a shipping coordinator in an automotive supplier and was on a project with an IT manager about a better way to ship and track service parts. After the meeting, he just asked some “get to know you” type questions. I let him know I was going to school at night and working during the day. He asked for a resume, and I never gave it to him. Slipped my mind. After several months, he came and asked for my resume as he was retiring and wanted to help me. I didn’t get the job that he thought I would be a fit for, but he asked me to meet the PLM manager to see if we could find a place for me. I had zero experience, but the manager liked me, so he gave me an offer. 20 years later, here we are.
Q: Where are you based?
A: Currently in Memphis, TN.
Q: What’s your favorite way to start the day?
A: Favorite is to wake up in Hawaii near the ocean. Reality is usually getting a coffee and playing frisbee with the dogs before work. Similar, but not quite.
Q: What’s a favorite quote or motto you live by?
A: Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy, and never judge anyone that you haven’t met.
Q: What’s something new you’ve learned recently, work-related or not?
A: I have been starting to play disc golf. Really fun, free sport, and a great way to meet super nice people.
Q: What’s a professional achievement you’re proud of?
A: I think it happens a lot for a lot of different reasons, so it is hard to think of something specific. It’s how I interact with a customer during a project. Remembering that they need our help and how we present that help is crucial to success. Our technical abilities are always going to be tested, but that isn’t what the customer sees at first. They see our professionalism, attitude, and they hear our words. As a PLM administrator for several years, I was the customer, so I can relate.
