To support its mission-critical operations, the organization managed multiple Teamcenter environments, including development, testing, training, pre-production, and production, ensuring seamless transitions across the product lifecycle. From the outset, the company emphasized training ownership and internal enablement, investing in workforce capability to drive long-term system sustainability and user adoption.

01
The challenge

Complex ITAR requirements, multiple environments, and significant team knowledge gaps.

02
The solution

Implemented Teamcenter workflows, migration, and training with Applied CAx support.

03
The impact

Enabled digital thread scalability and empowered teams through training and mentorship.

Project objectives

The project was structured in two strategic phases to ensure a strong foundation and future scalability.

Phase 1 focused on delivering a foundational PLM environment, incorporating robust change management processes and formalized maturity workflows to support product development. Phase 2 expanded the system’s capabilities to include simulation data management, requirements tracking, document control, ITAR compliance requirements, and facilitate secure supplier collaboration. The goal was to establish a resilient platform capable of supporting a scalable, end-to-end digital thread for long-term growth and innovation.

Project activity highlights

Enabled a scalable PLM transformation with Teamcenter

During phase 1, the implementation included several critical achievements that enabled the company’s PLM transformation. Teamcenter was configured with change management workflows tied to maturity milestones, a full data migration and schema translation was completed in just 3.5 months and supporting training content development with Applied CAx’s subject matter expertise. Phase 2 was all about expansion. This included integrating Teamcenter for Teamcenter Simulation (TC Sim) to manage complex simulation data and introducing Teamcenter Requirements to support early MBSE readiness. Document control was enhanced with formal release and approval workflows, while Partner Connect enabled secure external collaboration. Teamcenter Reporting & Analytics (TcRA) was also deployed to provide valuable operational insights.

Results

Rapid PLM deployment established secure foundation

This project delivered a rapid Phase 1 PLM rollout and expanded into full lifecycle capabilities, including simulation, requirements, and compliance.

Internal teams were empowered through targeted training and mentorship, while one of the most secure, ITAR-compliant Teamcenter environments was established. The company is now well-positioned to scale its digital thread and advance model-based systems engineering.
