CycloTech is an Austrian engineering company developing CycloRotor technology, an omnidirectional electrically powered propulsion system for urban and regional air mobility. With 65 engineers across multiple nationalities and locations, the company needed a PLM platform that could unify its engineering data across CAD, simulation, and verification without requiring on-site infrastructure.
CycloTech selected Teamcenter X Essentials as its PLM platform, deploying it alongside NX X Design Premium for CAD and Simcenter NASTRAN for structural analysis. The key requirement was end-to-end data consistency: engineering data needed to travel in native file format from design into every form of simulation and back again, without manual translation or version mismatches.
Teamcenter X serves as the digital thread backbone connecting all of those tools. The cloud-native delivery model was central to the decision: distributed engineers across locations can collaborate freely without VPN, local servers, or IT overhead. CycloTech is also planning to upgrade to the full preconfigured aerospace and defense template within Teamcenter X, enabling them to leverage Siemens’ built-in industry best practices as their programs scale toward commercial production.

Distributed engineering: accelerating innovation across global development centers
Furukawa Electric LATAM (now operating under the Lightera brand) is a unit of the global Furukawa Electric Group, manufacturing advanced network infrastructure and telecommunications solutions including complex cable and connectivity product families with numerous variations across multiple market segments. The company’s development teams are spread across global centers, and product ideation, documentation, and project tracking were all managed informally, without a unified system.
The company’s core challenge was not a lack of product data but a lack of structure around it. Ideation was informal and poorly documented. Project history was difficult to reconstruct. Documentation flowed through email with no central repository. And with no structured environment for managing product decisions, too many resources were being spent on projects that did not ultimately justify the investment.
Furukawa selected Teamcenter X after a competitive evaluation, choosing the SaaS option specifically for the benefits of cloud delivery: no perpetual license, no infrastructure to maintain, automatic updates, and web-based access for teams across different locations. They implemented Teamcenter X for document management, product ideation through the Initiative Lifecycle Management module, schedule management, and reporting and analytics.
The product ideation process was the most transformative change. Teams now capture and filter ideas within Teamcenter X before committing resources, ensuring the development pipeline reflects genuine market opportunities rather than informal requests. Decision history is fully documented, making future reviews and pivots much easier to execute.

Lectrix Technologies is an Indian electric scooter manufacturer competing in one of the fastest-moving and most competitive segments of the mobility market. As a startup, the company faced the same challenge many fast-growing manufacturers encounter: product data was managed manually. BOMs, 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications were stored locally and tracked with spreadsheets, emails, and paper. Version control was unreliable, rework was frequent, and product delivery cycles were longer than the market demanded.
