Why Mendix?
Mendix is a low-code platform that helps businesses quickly develop applications. Ray highlights the platform’s key ability to create “digital differentiation” around “core capabilities” that businesses can “build off the shelf.”
With Mendix’s “model-based software engineering” approach, users develop “full-stack applications” through a “graphical modeling language” that allows them to model the user interface, business processes, and business logic, Ray said.
This visual approach enables cross-collaboration across teams. “Most of this acceleration is because we’re making it easier for the business and IT to work together and jointly deliver the application,” Ray said. Typical Mendix teams are small and agile: “two Mendix developers and a business SME,” Ray said.
Mendix enables users to build differentiation while also maintaining efficiency.
AI as an “afterburner” for innovation
AI is driving Mendix by enhancing development speed and enabling richer application experiences. “For me, it’s an afterburner on the mission of Mendix,” Ray said.
On the developer side, “we’re integrating AI to make application development even faster,” Ray said. On the user side, it’s about embedding intelligence directly into applications. “A lot of people want to build what I call an intelligent application experience where there is some element of Gen AI incorporated,” Ray said.
Bringing that intelligence to life is another focus of Mendix. The platform “makes it easy to take your data, your AI models, and then incorporate it into an application experience,” Ray said.
