Daimler Truck is the latest market leader to invest in simulation software from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. Daimler has invested in Simcenter software tools in order to optimize aerodynamic performance as well as energy management for next generation vehicles.
Daimler will be utilizing Simcenter STAR-CCM+, the leading computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to simulate, explore, and optimize for innovative propulsion and CO2 reduction.
By utilizing digital twins for multi-physics simulation, Daimler Truck can transform its CAE development process, allowing engineers to explore solutions to minimize energy use while maintaining performance, analyze vehicle drag, and vehicle thermal management.
In addition to adopting the simulation software, part of Daimler Truck’s partnership with Siemens includes a dedicated support engineer to aid in implementing Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and to help to integrate it with their existing systems and processes. As part of this partnership, Siemens and Daimler Truck will be training a team of young engineers to create high-level simulation specialists to assist Daimler Truck in maintaining market leadership.
