We’re excited for Tom Wittrock to join the team as an NX Applications Engineer! Tom has a background in Aerospace, with over 30 years of experience with NX (UG) and over 20 years of experience with PLM. His specialties include large assemblies, Freeform Surfacing, Parametric and Interpart Modeling, and Teamcenter integrations.
Q: What made you want to join the Applied team?
A: I had been designing with a much, much older version of NX and wanted to work with the newest version and the best people in the business.

Q: What’s your background or education?
A: I have a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics from the University of Minnesota.
Q: How did you get started in your field?
A: As a kid, I loved everything aerospace, and I am a visual learner. CAD and working with NX is the best of both.
Q: Where are you based?
A: Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Just SE of St. Paul.
Q: What’s your favorite way to start the day?
A: With a cup of coffee in my 4-season sunroom, watching wildlife.
Q: What’s a favorite quote or motto you live by?
A: “It’s easy to make things difficult, but very difficult to make things simple. Work hard to make it simple.”
Q: What’s something new you’ve learned recently—work-related or not?
A: My wife is better at some tech stuff than I am.

A: Running across things that I have designed out in the wild.
