This support video walks through how to use Siemens NX10 postbuilder to set rotary feedrate units.

We've created this in response to a customer support question about Siemens NX 10 post builder. The specific question is about changing the rotary moves, specifically for 4th-axis to another units. This tutorial walks through how you can control the output units for rotary moves in post builder. 

One of the risks of reworking any type of mold — whether it’s vacuum or injection mold or wax injection — is the risk of scraping your original tool. Making sure you've got good information to start is paramount.

Pat Barrett from Sherpa Design and Applied CAx explains from our CMM and programming room a procedure we use to help rework mold tools.

On this particular project we were provided 4 of the same mold cavities and needed to rework them to put in some inserts and add additional features that weren't there before. 

 

This tutorial video is an answer to a customer support question about the NX CAM Reuse Library for Siemens NX10. It looks at setup issues, and help finding catalog items in the reuse library. It makes use of Siemens resources, and we've provided those links both below, and in the video description.

This video tutorial walks through using optimize feedrate for toolpaths. This will help maintain chipload and create toolpaths that will run better and allow for higher feedrates. It covers using the optimized feedrate for roughing operations. Depending on the pattern you use in NX your chipload could be somewhat inconsistent. What the optimize feedrate can do is set your nominal stepover stepdown and then it will reduce or increase your feedrate as much as you like.

 

The primary focus of this video tutorial is for NX Foundation users. This video will walk you though importing a STEP214 model with Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI) or 3D part dimensioning. Next I will show how to view the PMI dimensions that we've imported. This includes PMI 3D dimensioning information, as it does support that.

Then I will show how to create a manufacturing assembly where you can reorient your model relative to machine space and setup in a vice fixture. We'll be bringing the model into an inch template to convert it from metric. We'll also be orienting the model normal to how it will sit in the machine. This isn't absolutely required but it makes it a little easier when viewing the model. The top, front and right views will be the same as if you were looking at it from the machine.

We'll be creating a stop boundary, creating a block of stop material and prepping that, also optionally we'll show how to bring in a vice from the re-use library so that when you either take this to manufacturing in NX, or you're exporting it to another CAM system, it'll be completely set up and ready to go. I will show how you can add your own dimensions to output to a JPEG file for printing to the shop floor. Last I will show how to import a new revision.

This will be primarily focused on users with NX CAM or NX Foundation, which is a viewer that includes the ability to create assemblies, edit models, and do everything that we're doing here including creating some tool paths and more.

Michael Grant with Applied CX shows how to create a plane pattern relative to points and lines and driven from a sketch circle in NX10, where you can control the diameter and the planes will move relative to the circle.

Michael starts from scratch with a new sketch in the task environment, and as an example he shows a pattern count which does not automatically create the lines, so definitions are user-created.
