July 23, 2024

Efficient data handling is crucial to your work within Teamcenter. The good news is that Active Workspace provides a robust platform to streamline managing designs, documents, or other entities.

Here’s a guide to effectively create, revise, and organize data within Active Workspace, focusing on object types, favorites, and the Pin to Home feature.

Object Types in Active Workspace

In Teamcenter Active Workspace, an object refers to any entity or element that you interact with or manage within the application.

In Teamcenter Active Workspace, various types of objects are used to manage and interact with product data. Here are some examples of objects you might encounter:

If unsure about an icon, open the object and check its Type in the Properties section to clarify its nature.

Marking Objects as Favorites

Marking objects as favorites in Teamcenter Active Workspace allows you to quickly access frequently used or important items.

  1. Locate the Object:
    • Use the search function or navigate through your folders to find the object you want to mark as a favorite.
  2. Select the Object:
    • Click on the object to open its details or select it from the search results or list.
  3. Mark as Favorite:
    • Look for the “Favorites” icon or option in the interface. This icon is typically represented by a star or a similar symbol.
    • In the Detail View: The Favorites icon is often located near the top of the item detail page, sometimes in the toolbar or action menu. Click on the star icon to mark the item as a favorite.
    • In List Views: If you are viewing the item in a list or search results, there might be a column or menu option where you can directly mark items as favorites.

Item Revisions relationship with Favorites and Home Page

In Teamcenter Active Workspace, the Item Revisions relationship and its interaction with Favorites and the Home Page are designed to enhance user accessibility and management of product data. Here’s how these elements interact:

How Item Revisions Relate to Favorites:
Accessing Favorites: When you mark an item as a favorite, Active Workspace provides easy access to this item’s latest revision or the one you are currently working with. You don’t have to specify which revision to mark as a favorite; the favorite status generally applies to the item as a whole.

Viewing Revisions from Favorites: From the favorites list, you can navigate to the item’s detail view where you can see all its revisions. You can then select and view the specific revision you are interested in.

Updating Favorites: If a new revision of an item is created and you want it to be easily accessible, you can update your favorite list or re-favorite the new revision if needed.

How Item Revisions Relate to the Home Page:
Recent Items and Revisions: The Home Page can display recently accessed items and their revisions. If you frequently access certain revisions, they may appear in the “Recent Items” section of the Home Page, making it easy to return to them.

Favorites on Home Page: You can often configure your Home Page to show your favorite items. This typically includes the most recent revision of each item marked as a favorite. This setup helps users quickly access their preferred items without navigating through multiple screens.

Customization: The Home Page can be customized to include widgets or panels that highlight favorites, recent items, and other relevant information. This means you can set up the Home Page to emphasize the items and revisions you need to access regularly.
